OJ Simpson, NFL legend, and Hollywood actor who was acquitted in 1995 for murder in a trial that gripped the nation, has died at his Las Vegas home Wednesday.

OJ’s fame and fortune and legacy was forever changed despite being cleared by the Los Angeles jury of killing his ex-wife and her male friend in what was called the “trial of the century”.

Nicknamed “The Juice “OJ was one of the most popular athletes in the late 1960’s and 1970’s. A Heisman Trophy winner during his days at the University of Southern California.

As running back, he played eleven NFL seasons, nine of those with the Buffalo Bills. He won four rushing titles and was featured in five Pro Bowls.

OJ turned his NFL success into the show business and appeared in the acclaimed TV miniseries “Roots “and films such as “The Naked Gun “. He also famously became a pitch man for brands such as Hertz rental cars.

OJ had been battling prostate cancer he was 76.
